they grew up together
how old it was, when they did meet
i do not know
though for she, her years were but
thirteen

i did not know one day we three would meet
under that tree, she and me

crowd disappearing
our boots climbing

higher
voices saying run!

at last
we approached
that wood where
many flurried

hearing my sister
in her ear
saying
her name
again ...again

my pad for
vitals i did take
her father
her history
i did seek

shocked
another
like i
unknowing then
that tree had won

time stilled
between c-2 and -3
it did break
that young girl's life

that race complete
angels we wished
they would be
those young girls
there on skiis

on Rabbit's Run

Red Hot Chili PeppersBy The Way

Standing in line

To see the show tonight
And there’s a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to sayI’d be there... waiting for
Dani the girl
Is singing songs to me
Beneath the marquee... overload

Steak knife caro shark
Con job boot cut

Skin that flick
She’s such a little dj
Get there quick
By street but not the freeway
Turn that trick
To make a little leeway
Beat that nic
But not the way that we play

Dog town blood bath
Rib cage soft tail

Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there’s a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I’d be there... waiting for

Black jack dope dick
Pawn shop quick pick

Kiss that dyke
I know you want to hold one
Not on strike
But I’m about to bowl one
Bite that mic
I know you never stole one
Girls that like A story so I told one

Song bird main line
Cash back hard top

Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there’s a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I’d be there... waiting for
Dani the girl
Is singing songs to me
Beneath the marquee... of her soul
By the way I tried to say
I’d be there... waiting for

Chant
Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there’s a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I’d be there... waiting for
Dani the girl
Is singing songs to me
Beneath the marquee... of her soul
By the way I tried to say
I know you
Looking for Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there’s a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I’d be there... waiting for

The Fixx - One thing leads to another

The deception with tact, just what are you trying to say?
You've got a blank face, which irritates
Communicate, pull out your party piece
you see dimensions in two
State your case with black or white
But when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth
You run for cover so discreet, why don't they:

(found this artwork on a blog, will try to find source)

Do what they say, say what you mean
One thing leads to another
You told me something wrong, I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another

The impression that you sell
Passes in and out like a scent
But the lung face that you see comes from living close
to your fears
If this is up then I'm up but you're running out of sight
You've seen your name on the walls
And when one little bump leads to shock miss a beat
You run for cover and there's heat, why don't they:

Do what they say, say what they mean
One thing leads to another
You told me something wrong, I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another.
One thing leads to another

Then it's easy to believe
Somebody's been lying to me
But when the wrong word goes in the right ear
I know why you've been lying to me
It's getting rough, off the cuff I've got to say enough's enough

Bigger the harder he falls
But when the wrong antidote is like a bulge on the throat
You run for cover in the heat why don't they

Do what they say, say what they mean
One thing leads to anotherYou told me something wrong,
I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another
One thing leads to another

LITTLE BIRD
- Annie Lennox, Eurythmics

I look up to the little bird
That glides across the sky
He sings the clearest melody
It makes me want to cry
It makes me want to sit right down
and cry cry cry

I walk along the city streets
So dark with rage and fear
And I...

I wish that I could be that bird
And fly away from here
I wish I had the wings to fly away from here

But my my I feel so low
My my where do I go?
My my what do I know?
My my we reap what we sow
They always said that you knew best
But this little bird's fallen out of that nest now
I've got a feeling that it might have been blessed
So I've just got to put these wings to test

For I am just a troubled soul
Who's weighted...
Weighted to the ground
Give me the strength to carry on
Till I can lay this burden down
Give me the strength to lay this burden down
down down yea
Give me the strength to lay it down

But my my I feel so low
My my where do I go?
My my what do I know?
My my we reap what we sow
They always said that you knew best
But this little bird's fallen out of that nest now
I've got a feeling that it might have been blessed
So I've just got to put these wings to test

Grace Cavalieri (1937– )Athletes

The first time I saw my American poems translated
I just stopped and studied
the hieroglyphics on the page,
tiny scribbles of black ink
saying twicewhat was said before.
Then I knewI would not leave this world
without loving some of it . . .
nothing reduced to a single truth . . .
all of one blood,
our words, music and lives coming together.
It was not that the stars had fallen down—
It was more that we didn’t need
the lamp which had gone out.
How separate we are in the dark
after the poem is gone.

Collective Soul - How Do You Love

There once was love thrown into your room
But you never knew
A calendar of days just for you
But you never knew, never knew no

And the truth that you'll find will always be
The truth you hide
So how do you love, how do you love
When your angels can't sing, and your world is still
Lacking of me

There once were eyes that only saw you
But you never knew
A portrait of a flower in full bloom
But you never knew, never knew no
And the words that you fear will always be
The words you hear

This space where you've been living
Has gifts you've never given
That's the face you always show
Ask me for words of wisdom
Tell me of your condition
I don't know, I don't
I don't know
And the truth that you'll find will always be
The truth you hide

Sometimes I scream
rant
cry
o b s e s s

Sometimes I feel so much
too deep
it hurts
I cannot
s p e a k

Sometimes I see so much
Beauty
I’m sad
others
do not

Often times I remember
the people

I once knew
the ones who
touched my life
but briefly

yet with me always

Blessed am I
for my friends
my foes
my feelings
my life
